Celia, You already know you can sprout alfalfa, so perhaps you could just try some of the flaxseeds on their own, if they sprout in the same time using the same method you will know you can combine them.

Re: Sprouts - glorious sprouts!
I've found out that flaxseeds do not sprout in the traditional way - they sprout only for about a day and then you eat them or use them for whatever. So since I could not used them mixed with alfafa seeds, (even 2 days "experiment" proved that they can't be sprouted together because flaxseed became sticky and were in the way of alfafa seeds when washing etc), the mix ended up in garbage. Well, back to my original alfafa sprouting - started a new batch yesterday night

Re: Sprouts - glorious sprouts!
ok it's official!
Adzuki bean sprouts are AWESOME!
The taste just like the freshest, babiest green bean you ever ate.
ps they go great with bolognese
I have about 1kg of adzuki / mung / lentil sprouts - should last a week I reckon!
did you all know I love sprouts?

Re: Sprouts - glorious sprouts!
I have them cooked. They are on the ''highly benificial'' list for my blood type... over and above other beans or wheat type of products.
I will have to try and sprout them now!!... thanks Nova luv!

Hi Nova,
I never would have known you love sprouts!!!! I am waiting for Harris Farm Markets to get some more micro greens in stock, they have assured me they are completely organic, and they had the Adzukis as well as the more common ones.

Re: Sprouts - glorious sprouts!
Trev
Adzuki beans are quite small on a dried bean scale. The are red and I found mine in the asian grocers in Campbelltown.
Mung beans are similar in size and green and also available at my asian grocer, but I have also bought them at the green grocers in the dried food section.
I have a very large glass jar, a rubber band and a piece of chux for my sprouting.
I put a measure of dried beans, say 1/3 cup, in my jar and put twice as much tepid water into the jar and gently stir to ensure every bean is thoughoughly wet. Allow the beans to soak for 8 hours. Drain the beans after 8 hours and rinse and drain again. place chux over the jar and hold in place with rubber band. Stand the jar on its side and leave your beans to sprout for 8 hours. Rinse and drain and repeat until you have yumm sprouted beans. I like mine when the root sprout is less than an inch longa dn before any green tips form. They are tender and crips and yummy. After the final rinse, drain well and store in containers in the fridge - they will last 5-ish days in perfect condition.
Serve with salads
replace rice and pasta with them - I do
throw in a stir fry
snack on them on their own

Re: Sprouts - glorious sprouts!
I have been attempting broccoli sprouts this week (I have tried them as micro-greens, now as alfalfa style). Boy do they PONG!!! Smells just like raw broccoli, only the smell is much more compounded. They are taking AGES to sprout too. I am going away on Friday, so I hope that something comes of them before then, otherwise I will have to toss them.
