Default How necessary are supplements?

Hi all. My book arrived with yesterdays mail and I have been reading through it, getting all excited as it all seems to make so much sense. There's one thing I'm a little concerned about though - there seems to be an awful lot of supplementation. Good quality supplements are so expensive and we don't have a lot of money to spare.

How necessary are they? I understand the reasoning, I think, but if I were eating quality live foods and incorporating things like flax and fish and nuts and so on then shouldn't my body return to balance on it's own?

I'm not totally against the idea. I assume that taking the supplements would make the whole process happen much quicker. But as a single income household, I just don't know if we can afford everything.

How have other people found the extra expense? Are there any recommendations for reasonably priced products or websites here in Oz?

Thanks so much for any advice.

I think the most important is the omega3 so even buying flaxseed(linseed) and grinding it fresh and adding it to your food will make a huge different and flaxseeds are really cheap, I would also buy a good whey isolate it may seem expensive(mine is $40 per 500g the packet says aout 20 serves but I make it 40 serves so only $1 per serve and it's an easy way of bumping up the protien in a meal

Right on that is the way to go. I buy the supplements that require only one tablet a day and they will last for about 2 months.
