You're right that is freaky...I found an awesome video on YouTube for making Quinoa milk that a woman was feeding to her toddler http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8A9_qCl8BY it says part 2 but really it's only one part, it looks really creamy and would be quite cheap to make (Binn Inn sells quinoa in their bulk bins)

Soy is "Off" my list. My gastro told me I have lactose intolerance ( not allergy) and to reduce intake of milk products especially cheese and yoghurt that I was fond off..I avoid both now. He also said a little bit of milk in coffee should be fine.. I am happy to be back to my carnation "light and creamy" in my coffee and tastes just like Latte..

Gloria jeans, I am sorry make lousy Latte..an the outlet in west field closed. Burwood is full of lovely cafes and I have my favourite in Westfield at burwood.

In your smoothy you should find you dont need to add milk. Im not now and find it ok as i use bannna as the base, but if I wanted to add something sweet and low fat I would add a 'lite' rice milk that works well in smoothies if you want it sweet. Hopefully the whey isolate, will work for you Ram as it is very low in lactose and you need that protein..
The only smoothie I have is with whey protein isolate. I used water today and did not feel bloated at all. Digesting raw nuts could be a minor issue I have to deal with..

Goodness Krisyti! I will have to tell my daughter, as she gives it to my grandkids sometimes. Thanks for that!

I did not know that about organic milk Heather... Thats interesting!

BTW I recently sourced some raw goats milk which is readily available here in Sydney. I was amazed to find that!... I put a thread up here on it Heather.

Great news you weren't bloated Ram, naughty soy, do you have a problem digesting nuts, somewhere I have read that soaking them helps as it remove the inhibitors, (but makes softer although good for jonny chow) but if you have a dehydrator(I picked mine up cheap$10 second hand) you can make sprouted nuts like almonds
You soak almonds in water for 10 hours, drain then dehydrate until dry, they don't grow tails like normal sprouts but they get alot more enzymes in them so easier to digest

Silly me did not realise for too long that Soy was my problem all along. I thought it was whey protein.
Too early to say anything about nuts as I have always enjoyed eating nuts.
Right now I am fighting off a bad cough and cold and will be the wrong time to jump to conclusions.

More than Soy I made the mistake of taking two table spoons of Vinegar in my cucumber smoothie and the acetic acid sure lt did a lot of damage in just two or three days. Believe vinegar lowers insulin resistance hence the inclusion....

Oh Yes she is on Soy Milk and I have just explained to her that Soy Milk may not be all that good while fermented soy products were Ok. She will switch back to skimmed milk I presume.

Skim milk is high lactose (sugar) milk. The fat in the milk helps off set the carb load to the body and doesn't spike your insulin levels as bad. Whole milk is definitely better than skim health wise and diet wise

Also for the earlier people that are lactose intolerant, Kefir is a great way to get all the lactose out of milk so you can enjoy the benefits (Raw milk not pasteurized) of drinking it. Kefir turns the milk into a kind of yogurt which is a better form for all of us consuming milk and trying to keep our insulin levels down for weight loss
