Default Suggestions for site improvements

Hi all,

Firstly, I notice that the forum is relatively new, and I think its great. Doing well for a newish forum too.

A few things that *I* would love to see on the site are:

  1. The charts from "Positive Habits at a Glance" to be made available as PDF downloads that we can print out.
  2. Likewise for the nutritional suggestions and recipes - they are pretty, in their little pop out, but you can't easily print them (unless you are a bit of a geek like me and even then they don't have the recipe name on them)
  3. A full blown community and resource site,
    1. where food can be rated as to "live"ness would be cool (similar to how calorie king and other "d" word sites operate, with different brands of organic or non organise products rated for usefulness instead of calories.
    2. Where you can have your own account and checklists to remind you of things.
    3. Where you can keep a record of measurements, or kg (even though I know Jon isn't a fan)
    4. Where you can keep records of medical issues like blood sugar, HDL/LDL, etc
    5. Option for private or public blogs of members on their progress
I'm a bit of a geek, so I like my online tools etc. I record everything online, not in books, and I like it like that. I find it motivating. Little graphs and so on are handy too.

For what it's worth

Cate, These are wonderful ideas! I really like the idea of on-line blogs and record keeping. I think I would use these, maybe a place where we could record the small changes we see so that we have them to look back at when we are discouraged. I also HATE to journal in a book, but I think I would do it on-line. Not so much about what I eat or how much weight I have lost, but about my emotional issues and my realizations in relation to food, etc. -Rhonda

I would really love to see a forum/gallery with Before and Continuing (instead of after seeing this is a lifestyle change)photos...where people can put photos of themselves to encourage the rest of us on those days where you don't think anything is happening or that you might be the "exception to the rule" when you **feel** bloated and bigger than when you started....
I know for me it would feel really encouraging...not just the ones on the website but people still in the process in the forums.
If there already is a place then please let me know. I saw one guy in the visualization photos forum and he was a real encouragement so a gallery/forum just for end result success would be encouraging.

Cate, a resourse like you are suggesting would be great. I am not particularly computer savvy, but would definitely use the things you are suggesting. A blog would be great. It can be easy to forget your starting point, and the progress you have made.

it would also be great in the members lists if you could reduce the fields to country/city of origin to see how many people are near you

I agree mojome. I often search the forum just putting in my geographical location, Portland, Oregon; just to see who comes up, and have found some people that way. Though I have to say, I am learning so much from all of you in Australia, and I particularly like reading your posts. It is nice to have a chef among us who can recommend yummy receipies and give good food advice. -Rhonda
