I've been spending time reading lots of people's journeys on the GM and one of the common threads is how WELL you feel once you add the right stuff to your food intake. I've laughed out loud at some posts and delight in the open-ness and friendship that has been shown to supposedly perfect strangers - you're awesome!

No weight loss here, added some - which really "got" to me as that was NOT in my plan, but having learned so much more about it now after a month and a half, I accept and appreciate that it's how lots of people began - their bodies had to adjust to the real nutrition after so long on dead carbs. One unwelcome aspect that I've noticed though is that at least once a week I feel as blown up as a balloon and yet I don't seem to have had more or less of what's good for me than the other days. Just weird. It passes thankfully. I also did have one really clearing bout of diarrhea a few nights ago but never at any stage have I felt anything other than really really well and happy.

My initial reason for joining was to lose weight for sure, but mostly to discover how to turn off the cravings for the baddies and I can honestly state that I am like most of the "regulars" on this forum, it's happened so easily that I can be a bit smug with myself and give me a hug because my fridge is full of unopened choccy, my hot chip cafe is going out of business and I think I'm gonna buy flaxseed in bulk soon.

Bless all you lovely people for being so supportive of us newbies but most of all bless that lovely Jon for sharing his personal journey with us and putting me to sleep each night so beautifully - it's all about ME !!!

Oh, just as an aside, I mentioned in an earlier post that I have diverticulitis and I was going to my specialist and wasn't supposed to eat seeds and nuts - well this is a new bloke and he said "just an old wives' tale" and so the nuts and flaxseeds are taking pride of place in my pantry and fridge.

To finish, I can truly say I haven't felt this well for a long long time so hopefully weight loss will come as it has for some, a little further down the road. Whatever happens I am enjoying myself immensely.
TC

that i thought i would share :)

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: "I am blind, please help."

There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around,

and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign

came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, "Were you the one who changed my sign this morning?

What did you write?"

The man said, "I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way." I wrote: "Today is a beautiful day but I cannot see it."

Both signs told people that the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people that they were

so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

Moral of the Story: Be thankful for what you have.. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively.

When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile.

Hi Everyone,

This forum is awesome, lots of great information for me as a newbie.

Can anyone recommend a breakfast cereal that fits with GM principles? I have read in some postings that some people have muesli - which types are good? I am in New Zealand so if anyone knows of anything in particular that is available here that would be great too.

Thank you :)

Heya,

After going to the seminar a couple weeks or so ago and then by listening to the total transformation seminar cd's I've had a lightbulb go off in my head and I feel like I GET IT now. Odd, I know as I've been on the GM for a couple months now and though haven't experienced significant weight loss yet - HAVE felt what it feels like to turn off a couple FAT switches (albeit not all of them seemingly).

Now that I feel like I GET IT I've been having the odd sensation of not craving food and only eating when I feel hungry. This is strange because I used to be a 'planner' and plan my day around food. Now, I eat when I'm hungry and only caught myself doing it over the past couple days.

What does this mean?
What comes after this?

Anybody else have things like this happen?

I live in Pietermartizburg, South Africa. Two days ago my daughter told me that she has heard about GM and she was bold over by what she heard.
So we went off and bought the book together. I have now read the book and starting again from the beginning and and absolutely blown away about the concept and can feel a huge change in myself already. I downloaded the CD and just love going to sleep with the meditation. Everything just makes so much sense. I am soooooo excited about my new life that started two days ago.
Yippppeeee....:D

Good afternoon everyone :D
I am brand new to the Gabriel Method but not brand new to weight loss. I was once 92kgs (155cm F) and got down to a comfortable 65kgs through a few different avenues... firstly cutting out carbs then Jenny Craig and then Lite and Easy - all which worked to a point.
I have recently put on about 2kgs and 5 kgs all up since this time last year and am sitting at 70kgs. Whilst I dont have a huge amount to lose I am not feeling the best that I can be...
Which brings me to this book - WHAT an eye opener! I wonder why I am putting weight back on by focussing on programs that use processed foods to balance out your days eating on numbers...

I really had an eye opening moment reading the Gabriel Method... which I borrowed from the library last week and didnt put down until I had read it cover to cover :p my fiance was less than impressed when i came to bed after midnight. Now to some people it may seem counter intuitive to read a book about weightloss to stop focussing so much on weightloss but for me I was becomin so obsessive about the number on the scales that I could no longer see the light at the end of the tunnel! anyways I am happy to report that I am not thinking about food - moreso thinking about lookig after myself int he best way that I can everyday! What an inspiration... so what have I changed? In the last few days this is my approach and it may not be to the letter of the book but I am starting small and building from there:

Breakfast: berries, dash of milk, water, whole grain weet bix (1 1/2), mixed seeds and nuts (organic protein packed), whey protein with added digestive enzymes blended into a smoothie plus 2 1000mg omega 3 caps...

morning tea: banana

lunch: today I am having a fritatta with one omega three egg and two extra egg whites, lots of veges in it with english spinach salad on the side

arvo tea: mixed raw nuts (small handful) with a green tea

dinner: small lean steak with a big green salad with dressing - two more omega 3 caps.

I know I am not eating the full amount on supplements but I am starting small and building. I will prob get some yakult next shop and some flaxseed oil for my smoothies in the morning but right now just making sure my tummy is happy with these changes from processed/preservative laden food to this great food FILLED with VITALITY!!

Looking forward to meeting you all around :o

I went to a health food store yesterday and picked up one of the free magazines. This is a magazine article that was in there about what Jon calls FAT. In the article they talk about supplements which I suppose could be good or bad. Good if they kick start the body to be skinny but since I don't know anything about them (other then in this article--no suggested amounts, possible side effects, etc.) I'm just curious what everyone's thoughts are on it.

Recently, I tried a simple home remedy that worked so successfully that I had to share it with you.

Warts, hate them, we all do. For years, I had this disgusting plantar wart on my heel which was hidden until I started yoga. Then it became embarrassing, so I searched the Internet.

Duct tape, simple but effective and the best part, cheap and no pain.

I applied silver duct tape to my foot each day after my shower. After a couple of days the wart softened and I used one of those foot scrapers and gradually over the next couple of weeks, I filed my wart back to new skin.

Amazing, the wart is nearly gone. I'm so impressed. Try it, it works.

Love Lena

P.S. If you have any really good home remedies, I would love to hear about them.

Hi All.
I haven't posted for a while. I think my last one was during my toxic dumping stage. I now seem to be over that for now, and feeling just wonderful. It's
nearly 3 weeks into my "Uphill Climb" as I put it in my introduction. I'm now feeling that perhaps my climb may not be as steep.

I did jump on the scales the other day and I'm about 4kg down already. Wow. The pants are definately feeling looser, and the mind is definately feeling more positve and thinner.

I must say that this weight loss "attempt" seems to be so different from anything else previously. Don't feel at all like I have been on a diet - I guess because I haven't been! I feel like someone has lit a light bulb over my head. Why in all my weight problem years have I not heard much about (or been recommended to take) probiotics, digestive enzymes, or omega 3? And why has no-one really ever acknowledged the link between mind and weight loss. I've always thought that my problem area in weight loss is my mind - not actually thinking that I can lose weight; not keeping positive; feeling like I will fail because I've failed other diets or put the weight back on; not feeling worthy of losing weight. And why has no-one ever told me that the reason I am overweight is that I have convinced my body that it needs to be overweight. The emphasis has always been on counting what you eat, telling you you must not eat this or must eat that, eating less and exercising more - leading to a feeling of failure when your willpower does not seem to be enough. Sorry, I'll stop raving.

The bloated/windy (sorry Nova) feeling has totally gone now. About a week ago I changed the digestive enzyme & probiotics I was taking - may have something to do with it (as the natropath in the pharmacy did say that the one I had been using did not seem too effective, in his opinion).

Adding my fish oil tablets, multi-vitamin, whey protein isolate, and smoothies. I read about the green smoothies, and thought "spinach in a smoothie - who would have thought?". Actually every smoothie I now make starts with baby spinach. Can't taste it at all and I imagine all the "great green goodness" doing me good.

I even managed a party yesterday - didn't eat to excess, actually thought about what I was eating, felt full quicker, and didn't feel guilty for having the sweets or a celebratory bubbly or two.

Glad to report that I'm feeling the best I've felt in a long time. Thanks to finding Jon's website by mistake.
Getting late, must away and visualise! G'night. Lou.

Hi Everyone - I am new to the site and live in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. So far I am so impressed with Jon's work. I ran out and purchased his book from the local bookstore and immediately logged into the site.

The last 3 nights I have listened to the free CD you download before going to bed and am truly amazed at just the effects of it, I have woken each morning without aches and with energy that I thought had left my me for good. Just not being in sore in the morning is well worth its wait in gold. Can't wait to see how the book ends as I have been reading it when the opportunity arises with my busy schedule.

Looking forward to sharing with you all and reading the posts for information and friendship as well as encouragement.

Have a great day everyone!
